Mells 2006 - Player Ratings
Player Ratings (in batting order)
Tom Allen 7/10 – 37 – anchored the innings and ran Paddy out for a bonus point. Lost a point for refusing to bowl when asked to. Good debut from a promising looking future stroller, who has already signed up for Cowden.
Paddy McGuirk 7.5/10 – 1 and 3-28 – Man of the Match performance from Strolling legend. Point deducted for failing to order six meals and pints accurately.
Neil Tubman 6/10 – 8 – determined performance with the bat and great enthusiasm in the field: should be playing more often.
Simon Young 4/10 – 6 and several missed stumpings – too obsessed with his image and the ladies on the boundary; cameo innings but poor with the gloves. Hunt is still on for a 1 st team keeper.
Jonny Allen 7/10 – 2 and 0-15 – usual batting performance and courageous bowling. Inspired captaincy as decisions trigger last ball finish. Can the Captaincy reasonably be stripped from him, just because Tom F wants to face his demons at Folkestone?
Luke Fletcher 6.5/10 – 18 and 0-25 – looked elegant with the bat and unlucky to be caught superbly at point; huffed and puffed with the ball – some would say unlucky; some would question his training regime.
Doug McAndrew 7/10 – 7 runs – first ever 4 from Macca and saved the team several runs by not keeping, which mattered in the last over.
Guy Winter 6/10 – 6 runs and comedy slide – high quality return from ex highly regarded former stroller and a bonus point for fielding slide
Simon Holliday 5/10 – 19 runs and 3-19 – yes he was second highest run scorer and best bowler, but by his own high standards a mediocre performance. Deducted a point for refusing to run on a ball he thought was going for 4 and a further point for rubbish fielding.
Alex Finlow 8/10 – 10* and 0-10 – great batting performance from Alex, tied down an end with his bowling below the run rate required, took a catch, brought the kit and took a couple of barely conscious supporters home in his car – great all round performance.
Rick Bristow 3/10 – 1* and 1-22 – shocking performance from Rick with all time highest number of excuses offered for wide after wide with slower ball after slower ball.
