Andrew Carey
Andrew Carey is the epitome of most that is currently wrong with English cricket. A Kolpak player who qualified to play for the Strollers due to a dubious relationship with a woman who stole a British passport, this man's limited performances for the Strollers have prevented younger, more talented and English qualified players from moving on from the Strollers Academy to the full first team.
A hard hitting (the booze) right handed batter and military medium bowler, it continues to puzzle fans why an Australian born cricketer would model himself on Derek Pringle.
Off the field however Carey comes in to his own. And once again the ability of a Stroller to tick the “good bloke” boxes keeps him in the first XI despite his limited natural ability. Never knowingly out-chatted Andy loves all things Strollers, he makes frequent impassioned speeches to tramps and fellow tube-passengers about his Stroller journey and it was little surprise that he walked away with the 2007 much coveted Players' Player award.
His ability to effectively captain the Australian Strollers in 2008 will give an indication as to whether he might follow his fellow traitor of a countryman Stuart Law into captaincy within the English game
