Introduction
The Folkestone Open is one of the most prestigious tournaments in world golf. It is played annually at the beautifully kept Old Course at the Folketone Sports Centre (see below), home of the notorious radnor park stream (the Barry Burn). Invariably the course produces a mix of wonderful golf, inexplicable chokes and ingenius shot invention.
Only the golfing elite are invited to play for the trophy each year: Rick Bristow, Neil Allen and Luke Fletcher. This fiercely competitive trio tend to completely ignore the usual rules of golfing etiquette - walking accross lies, coughing on the tee and 'friendly' words of advice help add spice to the tournament, and keep the galleries packed year after year. However, whatever happens on the course stays on the course, and the players will always shake hands and share a pint at the 19th Hole (the sports centre bar) once the playing is over.
This micro-site is dedicated to this magnificent tournament. Here you will be able to find stats, player profiles, tournament reports and a photo gallery. Enjoy!
