So, with the tenth anniversary year approaching, how do things stand overall between the 3 rivals? Since his last victory in 2003, Luke Fletcher has finished last in each of his performances since 2004 (when he came 4th!). Meanwhile, Bristow has shown a worrying tendency to fall at the final hurdle. Allen, by contrast, has either been hot or not, and was certainly handed a huge slice of fortune on the comeback trail by Fletcher’s cavalier mentality in 2005.

So, there you have it. Bristow, thus far, is the most successful Folkestone Open performer, even though his name is on the trophy the least! The words ‘bride’ and ‘bridesmaid’ spring to mind. (Indeed he is yet to beat a full field in Folkestone!) I know what I’d prefer.
